Meet the Bizankers.
The investment team is headed by Peter Armitage and Sean Ashton, both award-winning funds managers. They run a team of 20 investment professionals in the UK and South Africa, with a 200 years of cumulative investment experience.
Bizank is a technology-driven solution backed by the expertise of Anchor Capital, which is on offer for the lowest cost in the market.
Peter is a CA(SA) and has worked in the local investment industry for 20 years. He ran the investment teams at Merrill Lynch and Nedcor Securities and prior to Anchor Capital was CIO of Investec Wealth & Investment. Peter is SA’s most highly rated investment analyst, with 21 number one ratings in the annual Financial Mail survey.
Sean has a B Com Honours and is a CFA charter holder. He has 12 years’ experience in the financial markets, having worked as a sell-side analyst as well as a fund manager at Deutsche Bank, Nedbank and Investec. Sean is responsible for the investment process at Anchor Capital, and also manages the Anchor BCI Equity Fund.
Glen has a B Com Honours degree and has completed the JSE and Safex exams. He has 25 years’ experience in financial markets. In that time he has headed up equity derivatives divisions at major local and international institutions and was instrumental in starting up one of South Africa’s biggest local broking houses. He has both equity and fixed income experience and has helped in pioneering derivative products such as Contracts for Difference and cross border equity swaps in South Africa. He was most recently at RMB before joining Anchor Capital.
David has a BSc (Med) degree from the University of Cape Town together with CA (SA) and CFA qualifications. Having joined the local investment industry in 1994, David has many years of experience in both equity research and fund management, running the investment team at Stanlib. His focus is global investments with a bias towards equities. David runs the Anchor BCI Worldwide Flexible Fund.
Peter has a B Com and is a CFA charter holder with 18 years’ experience in the financial markets. Peter spent 8 years in London in risk management, fixed income and structured products at RBS, Barclays Capital, JP Morgan and Credit Suisse. Peter then moved to New York where he spent 8 years in Credit Suisse’s alternative investments division, most recently as head of portfolio management for Liquid Alternatives. He then returned to South Africa where he joined Anchor Capital in 2013 to run a global multi-asset class investment product.
Liam is a CA(SA) and CFA level 2 candidate. He joined Anchor early in 2014 upon completion of his articles at KPMG where his primary focus was on insurance and asset management. At Anchor he performs the role of buy-side equity analyst focusing on local and global companies in the financial sector.
Nick is a CFA charter holder and a CA (SA). He has 11 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He worked for over 6 years as a Senior Investment Manager at Pictet Asset Management in London, with a focus on the consumer sector in Global Emerging Markets. Nick returned to South Africa in 2014 and manages the Anchor Global Equity Fund.
Matthew studied a B Com LLB at Rhodes University. He joined Anchor Capital in August 2012 to set up and run the Anchor Aspirant division. Anchor Aspirant provides investment solutions to young professionals and investors new to the market. He also covers South African transport and technology sectors. Matthew worked in tax advisory before joining Anchor Capital.
Mariska has a B Com Honours (Business Management) through the University of the North West. She has worked in the financial services industry for 4 years as a Private Banker to High Net Worth individuals at Investec. Mariska takes responsibility for IFA distribution in Pretoria, and covers the South African Banking Sector.
Sarah has a B Com (Finance and Management) and Honours in Finance through WITS University. She is also working towards obtaining the CFA designation. Sarah is a research analyst currently working with the research team on the Market Intelligence project.
Tamzin Nel has a B Com (Investment Management) from the University of Pretoria and is a CFA charterholder. She has four and a half years’ experience and in addition to managing private client portfolios and mining rehabilitation funds, she co-manages the Anchor BCI Managed Fund.
With over 17 years in the digital and tech space, Adam was an early member of South Africa's largest digital agency, Aqua Online and one of the original pioneers of digital in the local market. After 8 years of working with the country's largest corporates he founded Base2, a digital agency that has grown into one of the industry's top player. Both Aqua Online and Base2 have been acquired by WPP, the worlds largest communications services group.
Now with a focus on and passion for FinTech and Transactional Interfaces, he identified an opportunity to marry his digital and technical background and investing online, through transforming traditional asset management by creating an offering for the digital world.
